I was speechless.

That was the word to describe myself when I came face to face with Lea Salonga at one event I freelanced for. Sure my Aunt/Godmother Nena would be jealous to see us together, but she'd definitely laugh at how I froze when I had my picture taken with Lea. I was that kid at a party who's too shy to ask for my lootbags. What an idiot! So much more for good impression. It didn't help either that I only had three hours of sleep in the last two days of that event. I was there looking sloppy, while Lea was effortlessly looking world-class.

Nonetheless, she took my breath away with her talent. And even when I was lacking sleep on that December night, my heart was singing with love and awe for that one special night that I got my one dream come to life.

She has to grow up. She will.

But I guess there's always that mother's love or for the lack of term- selfishness- that I wish she never has to. You know how it's like when the young becomes a grown man. Either he turns out to be good or bad; and you either get excited or disappointed with the person standing in front of you. Whatever, his mother will love him for whoever he will become. Mothers are always like that, sacrificing and accepting. I know my mother is.

But this angel, she changed my life. While I sit here and ponder on what if's and whatnots, I can never alter who I am now. I am a mother; the mother of this heaven-sent. Even when my life's direction is meandering right now (halt those traveling plans and free spirited nature), I have to get serious, without really ever losing myself in the process. I want her to grow up to be the best she can be, to her liking and capabilities and with my help and support and that of her Dad's and everyone who loves her. I want her to travel, to go to a good school, to learn Spanish, to go to concerts, to play the ukulele, to play tennis. These are my wants for her; here I am listening to John Mayer, wishing the air will carry my prayers to some place where I can bury them and reap them when the time is right.

But for now, I am looking at that face, taking a good look at it, those small eyes which she clearly got from his father, that brown hair, those red lips, and that floral dress I love putting her in. I am freezing this moment; this moment that I am looking at that face thinking that that will be the same face I will see when I go home tonight. I am celebrating that innocent face right now, and for as long as I can. I know in the coming days and years, it won’t be the same face. Her hair will grow long, or short, whatever she prefers, her head will get bigger, that dress won’t fit her anymore, and she will be looking in another way not because she doesn’t know what a camera is, but because it’s her choice.

I will long for that face, for sure. But she is my daughter, I am her mother. Whatever she becomes, I will be just as accepting and loving- even when she wants to play the piano instead of the ukulele. My life may be different now, but this is who I am now. I may not be anywhere else, spending on nonsense and not on milk and diapers, but this is life happening to me at the moment. And while others are enjoying big breaks coming to their lives, here I am sitting on my office chair in front of my old monitor, living the life I chose, living through the person I have become, living as myself- a loving mother to Sab.

Mommy duty calling!

First project: Sab's 1st Birthday Party on October 10, 2010.

I found a venue in Ortigas, and will be paying the down payment tomorrow. Of course, there'd be no refund, so I had to ask Pierre for the nth time if he's alright with the venue because I already am. He said yes and so we're good to go.

My dream, really, is to have a simple party in a garden with closest family and friends as guests. But we're not endowed with a mansion with a beautiful garden so I'm crossing that out. Do you have? Let me know before tomorrow! :D

We already have a venue and I've had this theme in my head for a very long time now. Inspired by Temperley London's Spring 2010 RTW, I was magnetized by the greatest show on earth! The Circus!

It's an understatement if I say that I had the worst birthday last year. It was really the worst birthday, ever, ever, ever! But this year took a slight meander, and it has beaten the shit out of my ego full of miseries and hatred. (How can I have so much hate when I have so much love in my heart?) A miracle, I suppose, have docked on land. I'm not totally in the best state, but an air of hope is dawning upon me. Slowly. Tick-tock-tick-tock

If there's one thing I've learned in the past year, that is to stop taking all in and just relax. Writing it is so much easier to do, but then there's the internalization which is another story. When you have a baby in your arms, everything is different. There's the fear of forgetting who you are because the new life has swallowed you up in whole, until before you know it, you have lost yourself entirely. I'm scared to be digested by this fear. I don't want to grow old and look back and see the old me and never recognize who I was.

That is why I need to relax, in every sense of the word. At work, at home especially, at a movie theater, at a bar. I don't want to be blindfolded, because then there will be another fear of going too far. See, I'm thinking again. That's the problem. I want a day to pass by without me having to complicate anything. I want to reconnect with my old self, the less heavy, the less problematic Claudette because I miss being happy with everything and nothing. I need to take a breather from myself; because clearly I am my own antagonist here. I need to go back to the time where even at the sight of the moon, I would already be smiling... wildly.

So if there's any miracle, in whatever form, please knock on my door.

After a long hiatus from blogging and reading blogs I used to read pre-mommyhood, I've reunited with some usual sites I often more than stumbled upon in the early single days; namely, sentimental style, leblogdebetty and anywayss.

It feels like old times, but I never seem to grow up, so enough about my nonsense sensitivities. Anyway, I found this on Betty's site. I don't know about you, but this is a total knock-off! From where I'm from, the heat is overwhelmingly ridiculous. I wake up at around 6:30 am, take a shower and by 7 am, I'm already sweating like Pacquiao on training (at least every drop of his sweat costs him millions, while mine just makes me sticky)! By the time I get out of the house, I've consumed too much energy, I'm all grumpy until I get on the train- which is another story.

It's a routine I have to take because while I have many options to meander from this ride, I'm choosing to drive the same route. In times like this and with responsibilities on my back, it's difficult to take any risks. I'm accountable now. I'm adjusting, gradually, while trying to enjoy everything I have- those that can talk back to me and those who can only make me look cool, for an instant then, gone.

I'm a lover of life, and so I choose to live and love. I can live on cliches forever. I love not because I want to be loved, but because sometimes, it's the only thing I've got. Even if life doesn't love me back, I can only keep on loving. That's what angels do; they redirect the lost souls of the world. Love is annoyingly there, even when our minds try to brainwash the heart.

And the love never fades. For five years, it has validated the story of my two friends, Gelo and Grace. Their story are worth my tears, my time, and my adoration. Gelo and Grace finally tied the knot last Saturday, May 22. It was simple, intimate, and solemn- all weddings should be like that sans the inappropriate and expensive gimmicks. The couple changed my mind about weddings; now I'm daydreaming about my 50 wedding guests (just how can I do that in the Philippines?). Love mends the doubtful and heals the sorrow.

And so while the heat makes me think too much, from where I stand, it makes me see brightly that it overwhelms my own being. I see too much; I hear the voice inside me loud and clear. The heat tells me I'm in pain; but love saves me... and all is well again.

Back to blogging again.

Been too busy with mommyhood since November, hence the last written blog. But now, I've decided to get back in the hood - I just don't know how long this mindset would last but I'm giving myself a try.

My hands are getting numb because of the air conditioning. Yikes. The weather here in the Philippines has been extremely hot! One step away from the fan drives me nuts. I don't how some people get by- namely the construction workers, the vendors, etc. Good Lord, I've heard many cases of individuals dying of heatstroke. God bless this nation.

On a good note, it's a Friday night- pay day night! Happy happy joy joy! In a while, I will be heading off to my office mate's Spa Bridal Shower. I'm one of the organizers so, I'm hoping things turn out, well... organized. I'm getting my first-ever full body massage so that's exciting.

I've been listening to a lot of CSS lately, even having to use five of their tracks, (including two for P's so that's seven in all), for our plugs. Lol. I know, I know, it's too much, but every song just sounded perfect for my plugs so what can I do? For exciting reasons that P and I will go through tomorrow, Wednesday. We are both excited for what's it going to be. Although on the downside, the Adidas and Nike clearance sale is making P sad for some reasons. I'm still hoping we get something for ourselves. Happy P means Happy C. :D

I'm finally finished with my three premiere versions of The Big Bang Theory. Finally. Finally!!! I've been working on it, not stressing about it since last week, and now I'm done with the three. I still need one, though. But then again, one is always better than three, especially if it means the number of things to be done.

Rainy Tuesday.
After several days, including a very hot weekend, it rained this afternoon. Goodbye, greasy feeling!

I'm meeting Sidetrip magazine's editor (the travel magazine for all you fellas) tonight at 8pm. I'm giving her the items my friend, Noe and I got from our Manila vintage shopping spree. I'm very anxious to return the things we got because I loved the gold angel locket. It reminds me of who's to come in my life. But looks like I have to anyway. I wish I could keep the checkered shirt. *praying to the God of Shopping

Anyway, I haven't written about Michael Jackson's death. Gone too soon, for sure. I remember my family watching his concert here in Manila when I was in grade school. Of course, I missed it because I was too young then. At least my mom, aunts and uncle, and grandpa got to watch him perform. And Ella, my cousin, I remember her being a fan when she was little.

One hobby of me and my boyfriend is to piss each other off with insulting words. He calls me "agnap" (read backwards as "panga" meaning "jaw") because of my "modelesque" jawline. I call him "tonap" (read backwards as "panot" meaning "bald spot") because it runs in his genes that they get bald spot even at 29. The list of insults goes on. He calls me "bansot" (short), "bonsai", "unano" (dwarf). Yikes! Am I really talking about my boyfriend, possibly my future husband? I must be in for a total wreck for the rest of my life, if that's the case. But anyway, I fire right back at him with names like "baboy" (pig) and "buddha".

And just to piss him more, and possibly to make him laugh a little bit more with his usual autistic antics, I am quoting every single funny english he says out loud. Of course, I'm writing this with his consent. :D

Here goes for 22 June:

1. Referring to my spending and enjoying more time apart from him.
"You should do that more constant!" --- Constant, really?
2. Referring to my itchy belly.
"Deal with that itchyness!" --- Haha! Itchyness coming from a 5 foot 11 dude.

I'm pretty sure he's had funnier quotes in the past. I can't remember them anymore. But I'm positive that we both laughed hard about them. It's the way he says them that make them sound silly. :D

No gatecrashing needed. Even though our invites said it was for the 5:30pm show. We got there at 7pm; fashionably, alright, but it got my palms sweating for a minute. Good thing, no drama was necessary. We got inside smoothly for the 9:30pm show. Loved the shows of Bang Pineda, Estien Quijano and Jerome Lorico. :D

It's 5:44 in the afternoon on my computer screen. I've been working on this script since I got in the office at 9am. It's 5:45 and still, no life is flowing along my creative veins. I'm starting to wonder whether I'm really creative or I'm simply one of those people who thinks she is. Now I don't know what is. Still no sign of the fashion week passes. :(

I was hoping for a miracle last night. I was praying to the God of Fashion to please give me free passes to this week's Philippine Fashion Week. Looks like someone up there heard me. :D
I think I'm going to get some passes (I don't want to spray it some bad spirit, but there you go, I've said it). It's still in the works though. Hopefully I get to watch on Friday with Noe and Krista. More prayers are needed so girls, keep the faith! I'm sure keeping mine. ;D

I'm getting ahead of time. It's 10 on a Sunday night and already, I have to prepare for Monday. Ironed clothes. Check. Sunblock and hamper for P. Will check later. Red flats. Will check again later. Procrastination. Never fails, checked!

My mind is swarmed with endless possibilities for the week. Will I be able to work my way to Solar Makati and get myself and a couple of friends free passes to this week's Philippine Fashion Week at SM Mall of Asia? That's a challenge right there. In case I do, what will I wear and should I bring my clothes tomorrow, Monday, when I go up North? If I do bring clothes, I would be carrying more than one bag again and P will say, "Ano na naman 'yang dala mo?" If I don't bring clothes and some mighty miracle happens that I'll have free passes, I would have to come back here (South, represent) to get something to wear. That's another challenge, huge challenge, right there. But then comes the words I live by, "Pag gusto, gusto." BUT! If I don't get any passes, all my worries, GONE. Another BUT! I would really love to watch Fashion Week. I haven't watched fashion shows in ages. So please! God of Fashion, hear me? :D

I'm realizing that Monday is looking to be a promising day because of the non work-related things I have to accomplish. That's a good start, right there.

On a sad sad note, my lola Margo (my lolo Benny's older sister) died of Cancer last Friday. She was 92. I'm not close to her as we rarely see her but she is family so she will be a big loss. May she rest in peace with our Lord.

Ehem. Let's end the night smiling. I am reuniting with Death Cab for Cutie, listening to their Transatlanticism album.

Isang linggo na ring big time news ang sex videos ni Hayden Kho kasama ang tatlong magkakaibang babae. Guilty ako sa panonood nito dahil nakafile-share agad ito dito sa office. Sino kaya ang nagdownload nito? Mayroon na rin kaming malinaw na version ng sex video nila ni Hayden at Katrina. Sorry Katrina, alam ko sinabi mo sa TV, "... Sa lahat ng mga nanonood ng video namin, maawa naman kayo samin." I'm guilty as charged because I've seen it more than once. I'm sorry. I work at Jack TV (the number one comedy channel in the Philippines, alright!) as a writer/producer. The job description, as it appears to many, sounds as if I have the dough. My OB thinks so, my lolo's friend and my relatives. Who else? Almost everybody, I guess. I WISH! I do the dirty job- the kind that doesn't really put my name on the top list of eligible bankable, real-catch, sugah mama. So don’t kiss my ass.

This is what I do. I make the promotional plugs on-air. I conceptualize, I write my own script, I have Zach (our voice over talent) voice it, I borrow the tapes (let's say the digital tapes of The Simpsons and My Name is Earl), I view them, I grab my chosen clips, I offline edit, then pass it to my editor. Add the ingestion part to it. Production terms, sorry.

My job is not entirely glamorous. Now, it makes me wonder why I even used the word glamorous. Our office stands somewhere in a bad-asphalted subdivision in Antipolo City. On most days, I wear flip flops because pumps seem unfit for the work environment. Honestly, it's veerrryyyyy far from my dream office outfit- a mini dress, tailored jacket, opaque tights and a pair of pumps and then another pulled together ensemble for the rest of the week. But I’ve accepted that fact long ago. Maybe my time has not arrived.

All in all, however, everything is just the way as it should be. I’m here because my former employer wasn’t going to put me in any hot financial list. I’m here because I was going to meet P. I’m here because I was going to experience something bigger than myself. I’m here because I chose to be here.

So despite the lack of salary increase and the miles-away distance from where I currently live, plus the shameful fact that I don’t get free tickets to Pacquaio fights or movie and concert tickets, I’ve learned to love my job. It gets me places with the money I earn. And working on Jack TV is like working on a blog- you never run out of ideas, you want to do many things because you know you can, you start it and finish it, and then you end up accomplished and contented, even though it’s just as simple as a blog.

This is one blog I adoooore. Hmmm... I think I love this site more than I love the magazine. Haha! Nah, maybe I should get more Nylon back issues so I could ultimately change my mind. The site includes music, arts, and of course fashion updates everyday. Plus their titles are cute (Jesus, cute?! Is that the only word you could think of?!). They also have a blog that talks about all sorts of things- TV, links to other interesting sites, music (again, always a plus), sample sale (even all I can say is "sigh"), gossip (but in the least scandalous way, amen!) and Ninja Turtles?!
